The ‘Right to Buy’ legislation does give most tenants of ‘social’ housing the right to buy their rented homes after a given amount of time.
However, the ECLT houses at Fullers Close fall outside of this legislation because
- The land belongs to ECLT in perpetuity
- Stroud Local Plan policy HC4 (Exception Sites) states that the affordable homes on exception sites must always be affordable.
- The ‘Section 106’ includes specific clauses to ensure these 23 homes will be for affordable rent only, in perpetuity.
Project 2 houses will be similarly constrained.
